May 04, 2014· That looks like a standard Gorton 9J mill. Looks like all the feeds are manual including quill down feed. The 9J is a bull of a machine with uncommon accuracy, precision, rigidity, and quality. You can take stupid big cuts and it''ll take it all day but the quality is so good you can use it the rest of the week as a jig borer.

The Gorton is a nice mill, although for the money being asked for this one you can get at least a serviceable Bridgeport. Apr 21, 2009· For some strange reason I''m thinking 1 vertical mill ain''t enough. Got the opertunity to get a 10X42 Gorton vari speed head,power table also. I know a lot of these had queer spindel tapers,not sure what this has,but does have a Q/C collett system on it.
This type of jig is the absolute nut for cutting points repeatablity. It could have a couple of changes from what is shown so that points could be cut deeper (making them wider at the "A" joint) so that they can even touch at the bottom and also a way so that the material can be removed and replaced with complete repeatablity so that work can be done on the fore arm between cuts.
